Job Overview

The Global Communications team is responsible for telling the story of how Coursera is shaping the future of work and education, and transforming lives through access to high-quality, job-relevant education. The team is a nimble, high-impact, and globally distributed group that works with key business stakeholders and cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to tell the right stories to the right audiences at the right time. 

As Director, Enterprise PR & Communications, you will lead global PR & communications strategy and day-to-day execution for Coursera's Enterprise segment, working across our Business, Government, and Campus verticals to shape stories about equal access to opportunity in the digital and AI economy, cross-sector collaboration, and the future of work and education. You will be responsible for crafting compelling new narratives, driving earned media coverage and speaking opportunities, and leading high-stakes GTM announcements across a range of enterprise and corporate initiatives, including partnership and product announcements, thought leadership, speaking opportunities and bylines, and supporting collaboration efforts with global coalitions. 

Reporting to the VP of Global Communications, you will be responsible for advising and partnering with global Enterprise leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across Enterprise Marketing, and working with the broader PR team to drive our thought leadership and generate demand for our enterprise offerings. You will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with leading coalitions, employers, campuses, and government customers to influence the communications strategies, research efforts, and tactics Coursera uses to reach learners around the world. In addition to external partners, you will work closely with a cross-functional team from C-suite leadership, product, sales, customer success, and data science, as well as with peers across communications and marketing, including regional communications leads to extend global stories to countries around the world. 

The ideal candidate is a proactive and creative thinker, a quick learner, and comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and highly cross-functional environment. They also have a passion for Coursera’s mission and exceptional writing, cross-cultural communication, multi-tasking, and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate should be interested in learning about other cultures and building and maintaining subject matter expertise in a fast-changing industry that’s fundamentally reshaping how people learn and work around the world. 

Reporting to the VP of Global Communications (East Coast Time Zone), you will help shape U.S. and global conversations about creating equal access to opportunity in the digital and Generative AI economy, cross-sector collaboration, and the future of work and education. The role is fully remote and US-based – you will have global access to WeWork and occasional travel for events and tours will be required. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead global PR and thought leadership strategy for Coursera’s Enterprise segment (Coursera for Business, Coursera for Government, Coursera for Campus), driving earned media coverage, speaking opportunities, and data reports that build credibility and shape global conversations on crucial topics 
  • Craft global enterprise and corporate media narratives from scratch that resonate across priority markets with a goal to drive demand
  • Advise customers, XFN partners, senior leaders, and Executive staff on GTM strategy and positioning; lead high-stakes GTM launches from concept to completion 
  • Draft strategic artifacts, including media talking points, bylines, keynotes, press releases, and exec  speeches; prep and staff executive media tours and speaking engagements 
  • Actively identify relevant reporters and invest in building relationships with a goal to advance our narrative 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify customer case studies for PR and secure business, government, or university participation in initiatives such as events and briefings that help achieve business goals and fuel growth  
  • Coordinate initiatives and research efforts with coalition partners, including the World Economic Forum, the World Bank, and UNESCO 
  • Support internal and rapid response communications strategy and execution 
  • Manage Enterprise PR Manager, mentor team members, and coordinate with agencies  

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working in Enterprise-focused communications roles, including leading PR strategy and working cross-functionally with other teams
  • Background in clear, concise, creative written and verbal communication 
  • Demonstrated history of using data and insights to power thought leadership and media conversations
  • Experience leading and influencing senior executives, cross-functional, and regional teams on a project basis to get ambiguous assignments across the finish line 
  • Proven ability to think strategically, creatively solve problems, and manage multiple projects at once, adjusting priorities along the way as needed
  • Demonstrated history of working on projects that required cross-cultural communication skills 
  • Familiarity with top-tier business and tech reporters 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mix of in-house and agency experience; experience with edtech or future of work 
  • Ability to manage senior executives and engage in the strategic planning process of campaigns
  • Experience with Google Workspace tools including Docs, Slides, and Sheets   
  • Experience coordinating campaigns outside of the U.S.
  • Familiarity with workplace and economics reporters 
  • Passion for education and how technology can address global challenges
  • Experience working with B2B analysts

$186,400 - $233,000

 

US Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)

$158,400 - $198,000

 

US Zone 3 - all other locations not listed in Zone 1 or 2

$149,200 - $186,500

The range listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.
