Job Overview:
Our Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) team is part of the Coursera Infrastructure group, which builds and operates the critical data services that power Coursera’s global learning platform. As a newly formed team, DBRE focuses on the reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of our databases and data-related infrastructure. We partner with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing data systems, supporting everything from real-time learning experiences to analytics at scale. From automated backups and disaster recovery to database capacity planning and lifecycle management, we ensure Coursera’s data layer is robust, efficient, and ready to meet the needs of millions of learners and partners. We are hiring an Engineering Manager for the DBRE team based in India to lead efforts on RDS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, ElastiCache, and Kafka/MSK, driving initiatives such as database migrations, building paved paths for supported databases, and capacity optimization. Joining DBRE means working on high-impact projects that keep Coursera’s data foundation strong, scalable, and cost-effective.
